The Fish River Canyon is one of the largest canyons on earth — 160 kilometres long, up to 27 kilometres wide and more than 500 metres deep, carved over hundreds of millions of years through the ancient rock of southern Namibia. Namibia Wildlife Resorts operates two camps in the Ai-Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park: Hobas at the north rim, and Ai-Ais at the southern end where the famous Fish River Hiking Trail finishes at a natural hot spring.

Hobas sits at the northern end of the Fish River Canyon, just 10 kilometres from the main Hellskloof viewpoint where the canyon reveals its full, extraordinary scale. It is the start point for the famous Fish River Hiking Trail — one of the great multi-day hikes of Southern Africa — and the most convenient base for exploring the canyon rim. Shaded campsites, bush chalets with ensuite bathrooms, a swimming pool, and a small kiosk.
Ai-Ais — meaning "burning water" — is built directly over natural sulphurous hot springs at the southern end of the canyon, where the Fish River Hiking Trail ends. The springs feed both indoor and outdoor thermal pools that remain warm year-round. A full resort with rooms, family chalets, camping, a restaurant, bar, spa treatments, and a fuel station — far more complete than you'd expect this deep in the southern Namibian wilderness.
